From Recovery Wiki
Hi there, welcome to this page. I got clean and sober at 16 first in NA, then in AA after leaving the English speaking world and not finding a lot of NA meetings. Marijuana was my drug of choice. The liquid courage of booze made it my 2nd choice. But I would pretty much well ingest anything to help me get off... Have now been sober over 19 years... Not overly happy... looking to the net for resources on working the program more effectively... Self-pity would have to be my biggest character defect, which is hard to use when I've got some many gifts from the program (and higher power through other channels as well). Will post more of my story somewhere, but find this wiki a good place to start, while protecting my anonymity.
A recent comment I made here:

I think AA can have an opinion on other 12 step programs in so much as its for the purpose of the betterment of AA and not trying to affect a policy change in the other 12 step program. In the same way that we learn from the mistakes of the “Washingtonian Group” per our tradition 10 chapter in the 12 and 12, I think we are also free to develop opinions on the experience and interpretation of the steps and traditions of other 12 step fellowships to further our own understanding.
